Obituary

The graveside funeral service for Katharene Mariam Corbell will be held at noon Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK. Viewing will be Tuesday from noon until 7:00 pm. Chaplain Alan McBroom will officiate.

Katharene Mariam Murray was born October 4, 1929 in Welling, OK to Robert William Murray and Evelyn Sunshine (Baker) Murray. She attended Dwight Mission School. Katharene married Robert Levin Corbell, and they made their home in Porter, OK. Together they owned and operated the B and K Market peach orchard. For many years Katharene worked as a CNA, providing care in the home health industry. She attended the Clarksville Freewill Baptist Church for many years.

Katharene was a craft enthusiast, especially quilting and sewing.

She was passionate about raising and showing her prized coon dogs for a number of years, and won many trophies and ribbons.

In her last few years, when failing health caused a decline in activity, Katharene was lovingly cared for by family, including her grandson Steven Anglin, his wife, Heidi and a great-grandson, Tyan Vickers.

Katharene departed this life Saturday morning, June 1, 2019 at her home in Porter, OK She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis Corbell, in 2000; also by her parents, Robert and Evelyn Murray; great-grandson, Zachary Andrew Carson; son-in-law, Steve Anglin; two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Tony Sullins of Council Hill, OK, Kathy Corbell of Porter, OK, Diana Anglin of Porter, OK and Bobbie and William Thead of Porter, OK; two brothers, Sam McDuffy of Muskogee, OK and Aubart Murray of Florida; a sister, Koleta Holsey of Okay, OK; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
