Katherine Louise (Chambers) Barnes, affectionately known to family and friends as “Kitty Lou,” 95, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, January 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 25, 1930, and throughout her life was known as a devoted daughter, mother, wife, and sister whose love for her family knew no bounds.

Kitty Lou was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Donald Barnes. The two were united in marriage on January 27, 1959, and shared 50 wonderful years together until his passing. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love, commitment, and partnership.

Kitty Lou found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved flea markets and garage sales, always eager to discover hidden treasures. She never missed a music show or a good wrestling match, and she took great pride in caring for her plants. One of her greatest loves was her poodles. Her daughters fondly shared that they could not remember a time when their mother didn’t have a poodle by her side, a true testament to her lifelong affection for her furry companions.

Above all else, Kitty Lou cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion that will continue to live on through her family for generations to come.

Kitty Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Georgia Chambers; her husband, Donald Barnes; an infant son; her sister, Wanda Menees, and brother-in-law, Walter Menees; her brothers, Kennith Chambers and William Chambers; her sister-in-law, Catherine Chambers; and her beloved grandson, Orbery Burk.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters and sons-in-law, Frankie Burk and husband, Joe, of Okay, Oklahoma; Donna Jones and Sandy of Wagoner, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Nick Jones and wife, Jami, of Wagoner, Oklahoma; Kim Burns and Ronnie of Kansas City, Missouri; Ronnie Burk and wife, Jessica, of Okay, Oklahoma, Mike Burk and wife, Sheila of Kansas City, Missouri, and Melinda Peterson and husband, Steve, of Birmingham, Alabama; along with 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Kitty Lou’s family will deeply miss her loving presence, but they are truly blessed to have shared their lives with such a remarkable woman. Her memory will forever be treasured in their hearts.
