IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn Louise
Tibbs
January 29, 1939 – February 11, 2017
Kathryn Louise Tibbs was born in Wagoner, OK on January 29, 1939 to Earnest and Mildred (Jarvis) Owens. She married Ray Tibbs on January 18, 1957 and graduated from Wagoner High School in May of that year. They were married 59 years before Ray passed away March 1, 2016. They remained in Wagoner, where they raised their family, until moving to Porter, OK in 1984. Her husband, Ray, was devoted to her during her illness of many years, traveling many miles to visit and attend to her every need. Her family remembers her as a wonderful homemaker and cook. They have many loving memories of her Sunday dinners.
Kathryn loved the Lord and was a Bible scholar. She was a member of the New Beginnings Church. She loved to sing gospel music. As young women, she and her sister, Imogene, sang on local radio.
She enjoyed attending church, shopping and going out to eat when she was able. She loved to visit the library and the used book store often and liked to play bingo.
When Kathryn worked at Wal-Mart in Wagoner she was a department head, and her competitive spirit came out during the annual blanket sales. Every year she won the contest to see who could sell the most blankets.
Kathryn departed this life February 11, 2017 at the Fort Gibson Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Mildred Owens, and her sister, Imogene Larch.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Marilynn Tibbs and Jeff and Lori Tibbs; grandchildren, Julie Tibbs, Rachel Tibbs and Andrea Tibbs; brother, Kenneth Owens and other relatives and friends.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday evening. The Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, OK.
