Kenneth James Hamby, 77, died Sunday, July 3, 2010 at his Wagoner home. His funeral service was at 1:30 P.M. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend Mark Pointer officiating. Kenneth James Hamby was born May 28, 1933 at Hot Springs, AR. He graduated from Fountain Lake High School in Hot Springs, where his was active in all sports and named an all state basketball player. He was a member of the Whittington, AR Masonic Lodge. Before retirement Kenneth was employed as a truck driver for Arkansas Best Freight. Kenneth died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at his home in Wagoner following a lengthy illness. Survivors include his wife, L. Vonette Hamby of the home; three daughters and their husbands, Debra V. and Clay Brown of Shearwood, AR, Sharron Joy Umholtz of Valley Center, KS and Kennie Ann and James Hull of Muskogee, OK; numerous grandchildren, including Nancy Caroline Brown, Scott Brown, Jamie and Mike Aponte, John and Julie Cartland, Joy and Mike Franklin, Tad and Emily Colburn, Nick and Jennifer Colburn, Marty and Julia Colburn and Grant Colburn; great grandchildren, Bryce and Kenneth Cartland, Emma, Hannah, and Brenna Franklin, Gracie Lyn Aponte, Brook Page and Avery Brown, and Hannah, Ethan and Ben Colburn and his uncle and aunts, James and Martha Wilson and Theodora Plummer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and James R. Thomason and a son, Stephen Riley Hamby. Interment was in Vernon Cemetery. Members of the Wagoner EMS will served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Eternity Fraternity Staff, Dr. David Kyger and Staff, and the Simmons Drug Staff.
