Obituary

Kenneth "Red"  Linzy, 89, of Porter, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on September 11, 2025. Born on September 2, 1936, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Kenneth lived a life rooted in hard work, generosity, and deep connections to his community and family.

Kenneth graduated from Porter High School in 1955. He went on to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University on a basketball scholarship before transferring to Northeastern State University. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic, working as a farm hand for local farmers during his youth. As a young man seeking opportunity beyond his hometown, Kenneth ventured to California in search of employment and worked at a Chevrolet auto assembly plant. Eventually returning to Oklahoma, his professional journey led him to positions with Carnation and later Safeway/Homeland, where he worked diligently until retiring at the age of 57.

Retirement did not slow Kenneth down. In fact, it allowed him to return to one of his greatest joys—farming. He found happiness behind the wheel of a tractor and began growing produce that he sold to area fruit stands and restaurants. This endeavor became more than just a business; it was a way for him to spend meaningful time with his grandchildren while teaching them the value of hard work and responsibility.

Kenneth also discovered a passion for woodworking during retirement. With care and craftsmanship, he created bowls, cups, and other handmade items that he generously shared with family and friends. His giving spirit extended far beyond his immediate circle—he was known for sharing the fruits of his labor with many throughout the community.

A devoted member of Porter First Baptist Church, Kenneth and his wife Ina built lasting friendships over the decades through their faith community. His presence was also felt throughout town; he was a familiar face at places like the Farmers Co-op, Arnold's, Sid's, China King, Toyota of Muskogee, and the Woodall Flea Market. These regular visits were more than errands—they were opportunities for connection. The people he met along the way became cherished additions to his ever-growing circle of friends.

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Ina Elkins Linzy; children, Kent Linzy, Kevin Linzy (Terri), and Nancy Linzy Eaton (Scott); grandchildren, Harrison Gaston (Eryn Spellman), Linzy Gaston (Christy), Sarah Edwards (Jeremiah), Kyle Linzy (Samantha), Hailey Linzy (Victor Diaz), Emma Eaton (Jose Bribiesca), Hannah Linzy, and James Eaton; great-grandchildren, Sage Edwards and Rhys Edwards; siblings, Betty Sue Daniel, Alvin Linzy (Mary Ann), Frank Linzy (Elaine), Dorothy Sedivy (Roger), Verna Linzy, and Mary Lou Brown; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hila Linzy; daughter, Cindy Linzy Gaston, son- in-law, Benjie Gaston; and sister, Neoma Daniel.

Kenneth "Red" Linzy will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, tireless work ethic, and
unwavering love for family and community. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew
him.
