Kenneth Ray Mathvin was born July 14, 1937 in Yellville, Arkansas to Eathel Garvin and Ethel Nola (Camp) Methvin, who precede him in death. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University. For many years Kenneth and Jerry made their home in Claremore, OK, where they raised their family. He was self employed in the muffler business and was an inventor of many things. His family recalls how he could fix anything. After 36 years in Claremore he and Jerry retired to Porter, OK. He enjoyed sports and Sudoku puzzles. His pet bulldogs were dear to his heart. Kenneth and Jerry have been active members of the Wagoner First Baptist Church. He especially enjoyed the weekly men's prayer breakfast. Kenneth died early Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jerry Methvin of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Eldridge of Edmond, OK; his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Anna Methvin of Chanute, KS; grandchildren and their spouses, Amy and Pete Keating of Chanute, Erin and Lance Larson of Olathe, KS, Kelli and Jesse Pepper of Wichita, KS, Nolan Coldin and Sarah Methvin, both of Chanute, Brooke Eldridge of Bangalore, India, Kenny Eldridge and Seth Eldridge, both of Edmond; great grandchildren, Preston and Colin Keating and Lowen Larson; a sister, Glenda McElroy of Tulsa; other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Wagoner First Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark Pointer will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 401 N. E. 2nd Street, Wagoner, OK 74467.
