The Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Kurt Walter Dickenson, 56, will be at 2:00 pm Friday, October 4, 2019 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK. Officiate will be Mr. Dave Brewer.
Kurt Walter Dickenson was born October 20, 1962 in Enid, Oklahoma to Billy Graham Dickenson and June Lucille (Wallenburg) Dickenson. He graduated from Wagoner High School in 1980 and later earned a Bachelor degree from Northeastern State University in Health and Human Performance and a minor in Biology.
He married the former Sharon Montez Walker on December 31, 1990, and they had two children, Miles and Lillian. They made their home in Tahlequah, OK.
Kurt served in the United States Army two times. He was a member of the 82 nd Airborne Division and in the 1980's participated in the first tactical jump since World War II, into Central America.
He served as jailer and dispatcher for the Wagoner County Sheriff's office for several years and worked in water well drilling as well.
In his spare time Kurt loved to read, hike and go for walks. His family recalls how he was friendly and met people and made new friends everywhere he went.
Kurt departed this life Friday, September 27, 2019 in the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System in Muskogee, OK at the age of 56 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Miles Dickenson, in 2009 and by his father, Bill Dickenson, in 2015.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly thirty years, Montez Dickenson of the home in Tahlequah, OK; a daughter, Lillian Vollintine and her husband, Josh of Tahlequah, OK; his mother, June Dickenson of Wagoner, OK; his sister, Ana Dickenson of Wagoner, OK; parents-in-law, Dave and Twyla Brewer of Tahlequah, OK; extended family and many friends.
