Obituary

LeCletha Maxine Rhodes was born February 6, 1928 in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, one of ten children born to Jack and Zelma (Crisp) Thornburg. Before retirement Maxine was employed for seventeen years as a medical assistant at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She loved attending the Church of God in Wagoner, where she was a member. Maxine liked to work in her yard, especially while gardening. She was an accomplished seamstress and liked to crochet, embroider, and quilt. Maxine dearly loved being with her family and dearly loved being with her grandchildren. Mrs. Rhodes departed this life early Sunday, November 22, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, at her home in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Rhodes, a son, Justin Rhodes, an infant son, Ronald Dearal Rhodes; two grandchildren, Matthew Rhodes and Cheryl Orman; two sisters, Alene Daniels and Geraldine Thornburg; and a brother, J. R. Thornburg. Survivors include six children and their spouses: Don and Patsy Rhodes, of Wagoner, Virginia and Steve Lindsey of Wagoner, Patsy and Byron Weaver of Georgetown, Texas, Eddie Dean Rhodes of Pryor, Marilyn and Pat Doyle of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Beverly and Johnny Swanson of Tulsa; three sisters: Pearline Rhoades, Carole Townsend, and Wanda Gardner; three brothers, David Thornburg, Allen Thornburg, and Roger Thornburg; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Wagoner Church of God. The Reverend Bruce VonWald will officiate. Interment will be in the I.O.O. F. Cemetery in Hulbert, Oklahoma. The pallbearers will be Zac Lindsey, Josh Goforth, Ryan Paquetter, Donnie Frey, Bobbie Minihan, and Barry Fosburg.  Honorary pallbearers will be James Gardner, Gary Daniels and Travis Rhodes.
