IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Maxwell
Duvall
September 2, 1939 – April 9, 2024
Larry Maxwell DuVall was born on September 2, 1939, in Greenfield, California. He was one of seven children born to Vildage Webster "V W" and Norma Sybil (Maxwell) DuVall. Larry joined the United States Navy and served more than nine years. His service included the position of boiler tender while at sea.
He married the love of his life, Norma Sue (Tipton), at an early age. They shared a wonderful life together until her passing in 2022. They were blessed with three children, Jamie, Debbie and Steven. Larry's naval service allowed the young family to live in some interesting places before finally settling in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. Larry worked as a car salesman for a short while before moving on to his twenty years career with Locke Supply, where he held the position of electrical manager.
Larry's family recalls his love for gardening. For a time, he lived on a seven-acre farm in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, finally settling in Coweta, Oklahoma where he lived at the time of his death. His family shares a legacy of Larry's example of being a "do it yourself" and hard-working person.
His children will always remember Larry's musical talents, which he passed on to several of them. In his early years he formed a band who played a lot of gospel and rockabilly music. Larry's talents for singing and playing the guitar were also notable in his family who loved to get together and make music. What celebrations the children enjoyed, playing and running while the adults played and sang together!
Larry departed this life to be with his Lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was afforded the Walk of Honor as he left the hospital on Wednesday morning. Members of the family who could be present were moved as others saluted in his honor when he passed through the halls, remaining at attention until he was gone from the hospital grounds.
It is a comfort to know that Larry was welcomed in Heaven by his wife, Norma DuVall; his parents, V W and Norma DuVall; two brothers, Fred G. "Buster" DuVall and Carl J. DuVall; and a sister, Catherine (DuVall) Roe.
His loving family who survive him include his son, Jamie DuVall and his wife, Jackie, of Wagoner, Oklahoma; daughter, Debbie (DuVall) Bridges of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and son, Steven Paul DuVall of Bella Vista, Arkansas; grandchildren, Dena Wilson, Tammy Neel and her husband, Mark, Michael D. Bridges and his wife, Kristina, Melissa D. Bridges, and Matthew D. Harl; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Patty; two brothers, Robert DuVall and Jimmy DuVall; numerous nieces and nephews; other extended family members; and friends.
A memorial service honoring Larry's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024, at The Gathering Pen Cowboy Church in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Officiating will be the Pastors Jessi and Joe Schwab.
