Larry Ray Essary, 64, a lifetime Porter, OK resident, died at his home Wednesday, August 15, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Porter First Baptist Church. The Reverend Larry Lashley, the Reverend Steve Holland, and Mr. Roy Essary will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 56 of Haskell, OK. Pallbearers will be Jim Shieldnight, Tommy Essary, Jeremy Bobbitt, Brian Essary, Kevin Essary, Scott Strong, Nick Yochum and Aaron Vanorsdol. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's II Sunday School Class of Porter First Baptist Church where Larry was a member. Larry was born June 13, 1948 in Muskogee, OK to Charles and Evelyn (Hess) Essary. He graduated from Porter High School and later served in the United States Army. Larry loved the outdoors; he was an avid gardener, enjoyed camping, fishing and four wheeling. He retired from Murray's Nissan where he was employed as a car salesman, and was a farmer and rancher his entire life. Larry's dearest times were spent at family functions with all of his family. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Essary, whom he married on July 21, 1992; his parents, Charles and Evelyn Essary of Porter; his children and their spouses, Brian and Tina Essary of Porter, Dena and Rev. Steve Holland of Vinita, Kevin and Christy Essary of Hectorville, Ok, Tommy and Krista of Owasso, Jackie and Jeremy Bobbitt of Haskell and Ahnnie and Scott of Coweta, OK; two brothers and their wives, Don and Robbie Essary of Bernice, OK and Roy and Nana Essary of Porter; his sisters and spouses, Charlotte and Jim Easley, Marilyn and A.J. Stout, all of Porter, and Kathy Flusche of Okay, OK; brother-in-law, Ray and Kathryn Tibbs of Porter, sister-in-law, Earlene and Jack Ciehola of Porter; grandchildren, Chris and Brittney Essary, Megan and Julie Essary, Dustin Essary, Tommy Wayne, Bethany and Maggie Essary, Taylor and Calem Holland and Hayley and Easton Bobbitt; great grandchildren, Michael Hargrove and Isabella Essary, numerous special nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
