Obituary

Funeral services for Larry Lee Thomas, 61, of Owasso, OK will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Wagoner with the Reverend Carl Murphy officiating. Larry passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born in Wagoner, OK an August 29, 1949 to Raymond C. and Opal A. (Hefner) Thomas. He was a class of 1968 graduate of Wagoner High School. Larry served his first tour of duty in the United States Air Force in Thailand, but it was while serving at Kirkland Air Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico that he met and later married Doris Jean Beck an August 19, 1972. They were happily married for 38 years. They moved to Wagoner, 1973 where he worked as a carpenter. In 1986, they moved to Owasso and Larry began his career with the Oklahoma Air National Guard, 138th Fighter Wing-MXS. He retired in 2007 as a Senior Master Sergeant after 25 yeas of service. His greatest joy was being a father and grandfather. Larry was an avid gardener, he loved helping his brother on the farm, traveling when possible and spending time reminiscing with his brothers and sisters. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Allen Pokey' Thomas and a brother-in-law, Earl Bub' Moore. Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his wife, Doris of the home; their three children, Kevin of Owasso, Kerri of Catoosa and Keith Justin of Tulsa; one granddaughter, Alexis Girlie' also of Owasso; a sister-in-law, Lorene Thomas; sister, Barbara Moore all of Wagoner; brothers, Earl Thomas and wife Donna of Wagoner,Oddie Thomas and wife, Anita of Rocky Point and Raymond Chucky' Thomas and wife, Becky of Wagoner; sisters, Janie Nevitt, Judy Morris and husband, Dale of Wagoner; sister, Brenda Neugin and husband, Rocky of Lost City, OK; numerous nieces and nephews; a dear family friend, Jeannie' Jenny Crew; other relatives and friends who will miss his gentle and peaceful spirit. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11, at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. Funeral arrangements and interment in the Bennett edition of Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner are being directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
