Lavern E. (Buford) Dumond of Wagoner passed away at her home on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the age of 70. Lavern was born on September 22, 1943 in Hulbert, Oklahoma to William and Walsie (Charboneau) Buford. She grew up and attended school in Hulbert. In 1967 she was united in marriage to Herbert H. Dumond and, after his retirement from the U.S. Army, they returned to Wagoner in 1979. Lavern worked for several years at Prestolite and then Wal-Mart before retiring. She was an avid reader and had a huge interest in genealogy. She loved the excitement of playing bingo and spending time at the casino. She also loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. Lavern was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert in 1988; her parents; siblings, Dalton Buford, Billy Buford, J.B. Buford, Don Buford, Bob Buford, Lloyd Buford and Lena Johnson; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Green. Lavern is survived by her children, Laurie Smith and her husband, Jimmie, Donna Julian and her husband, Darrin, Misty Dumond, and Robert Dumond and his wife, Carrie, all of Wagoner; grandchildren, Stephanie Green, Kallie and Hanna Smith, Taylor and Nathan Gipson, Landon and Brock Julian, Aaron Fidler, and Cameron, Blake, and Ryan Dumond; one sister, Doris Cantrell and her husband, Don; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and friends. A Visitation will be held on Monday, March 24 from 5-7 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home. The Funeral Service for Lavern will be on Tuesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Clay Frost officiating with interment following in Pioneer Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Taylor Gipson, Dale Rinehart, Don Cantrell Jr., Danny Cantrell, David Cantrell, and Dalton Cantrell.
