Lee Roy Gravitt was born September 20, 1927 in Locust Grove, OK to Kenthir E. and Bertha (Cooper) Gravitt. After attending Wagoner High School, where he met his future wife, Beryl Piersall, Lee served in the U.S. Army. He later began his career with Southwestern Bell in Tulsa as a lineman. He worked his way up to the position of First Line Supervisor and retired after thirty-two years. Lee liked to dance and enjoyed square dancing. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Tulsa. Lee departed this life in Tulsa on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Beryl Gravitt; his parents and a brother, Gerald Gravitt. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gravitt of the home; his son, Frank Gravitt of Haverill, Massachusetts; his daughter, Pamela J. Wilus of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, John Gravitt of Asheville, North Carolina, Therise Fritz of Lake Bay, Washington and Kaitlin Gravitt of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two great grandchildren, Yarrow Fritz and Stoyan Fritz; other relatives and friends. A graveside funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, OK. The Reverend Larry Merideth will officiate.
