Lemuel Archie Due was born October 22, 1928 in Eagletown, Oklahoma to Lemuel Vivian and Lenora (Roth) Due. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Toledo during the Korean War. He was honored to receive the Navy Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal (Three Stars), United Nations Service Medal, ROK Presidential Unit Citation and the China Service Medal for his service.
Lemuel was married at an early age to the former Betty Jean Holman. To this union two sons were born, Lemuel Gene Due and Ronald Paul Due. They were married for nearly sixty years and shared many wonderful memories of their travels with an RV following retirement. They particularly enjoyed five trips to Alaska.
Lemuel loved the outdoors all his life. He especially liked fishing and hunting. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Oklahoma A & M, now Oklahoma State University, Lemuel worked for the Oklahoma State Wildlife Department as a Wildlife Ranger.
Lemuel married the former Charlene Ann Blaylock in 2015. While his health allowed, Lemuel and Ann enjoyed fishing and hunting together.
Lemuel departed this life early Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Hospital in Muskogee, OK at the age of 91 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel and Lenora Due, his first wife, Betty Jean Due and one son, Lemuel Gene Due.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Ann Due; his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Paul Due and Marie Due; one sister, Fern Smith; two stepsons, Joshua Blaylock and Paul Powell; five step-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, OK at 10 am Tuesday, September 22, 2020. The Reverend Emmett Metcalf will officiate. Military Rites will be performed by the U.S. Navy Honors Detail.
