Leona Cole was born June 21, 1926 at Beaver Springs, OK to Floyd and Mary Hagar. She passed this life Thursday, January 10, 2019 in Chouteau, OK.
Leona married Glenn B. Cole March 1, 1944. To this union were born three children, Glenn Dwaine Cole, Sandra Lee Turner and Cheryl Kay Steddum. Leona attended Mazie School, graduating in 1945. She worked at the powder plant while Glenn was in the service. She worked a while for the postal service, then went to work for Rural Water District #2 in Mazie and continued there for 28 years.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Chouteau, where she was custodian for seventeen years. Leona gave her heart to God when she was thirteen.
Leona was a champion checker player with her grandkids and other family members. She also enjoyed daily completing numerous pages of word find books.
Her family will always remember how she loved people and especially her family, her church and her dog Bullett.
She is survived by one son, Glenn Cole and wife, Dot; two daughters, Sandy Turner and husband, Jim and Cheryl Steddum and husband, David; seven grandchildren and spouses, Clifton and Amie Orcutt, Patricia Adcock, Kathy Cole, David and April Cole, Jenny and Chris Holliday, Terri and Kong Chang and Brian and Becky Steddum; seventeen great-grandchildren, Noel, Brooklyn, Isabella, Quaid and Quincy Orcutt, Kristi, Charley and Jacob Adcock, William Bruce Crowder Cole, Hunter and Cole Holliday, Mallory, Bethany and Deborah Cole, and Colton, Devyn and Emma Shough; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, her parents, Floyd and Mary Hagar; three sisters, Marguerite Sly, Dorothy Wassom and Virginia Atchley and two brothers, Bob Hagar and Alfred Hagar.
The family will gather with friends for a Visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, OK.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church, 5285 W. 580, Chouteau, OK. Officiating will be the Reverend Phil Hudson.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, OK. Pallbearers will be Clifton Orcutt, David Cole, Brian Steddum, Chris Holliday, Kong Chang and Norman Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Noel, Quaid, and Quincy Orcutt, Jacob Adcock, William Cole, and Hunter and Cole Holliday.
