Obituary

Leona Vivian (Moss) Foster was born November 16, 1944 in Hulbert, OK, one of ten children born to Elmer Lee Moss Sr. and Florence Jane (Rutherford) Moss. Her family moved to Coweta, OK when Leona was a young age, and she grew up there and continued to make it her home throughout her life.

She married Cecil Leon Foster Sr. on August 2, 1963. They shared a marriage rich with devotion to each other for more than fifty-six years until his death April 22, 2020. The family remembers how Cecil always told Leona, "I love you forever and a day."

In her early years Leona worked as a waitress and housecleaner. Her favorite job was driving a pizza delivery truck.

In her spare time Leona loved to be with family, especially with her grandbabies. She liked to crochet and enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening.

Leona was a woman of great faith and a minister. For many years she taught her Sunday school class at Church Purchased by Christ.

Leona departed this life Monday evening, February 22, 2021 at her home in Coweta, OK at the age of 76 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Florence Moss; her husband, Cecil Foster; daughter, Rhonda Lynne Javine; great-grandchildren, Stevie-Lynne Nicole Brown and William Tate Shanks.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Teana Roseanne (Foster) and Michael Edward Brown, Cecil Leon Jr. and Angelia Denise Foster, all of Coweta, OK, and Heather Amber (Foster) and Jack Vincent Spurrier of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Megan Foster, Christopher Foster, Geoffrey Javine, Patrick Javine, Rylan Javine, Joshua Brown, Joseph Brown, Jacob Brown, MaKayla Foster, Bethany Foster, Olivia Foster, Lacey Harrell and Jackson Shanks; great-grandchildren, Nykolas, Ashlyn, Keaton, Kayden, Daniel, P.J., Alex, Xzander, Gunner, Elijah, Connor, Bentley, Wiley-J, Reed and Waylon; one sister, Jualice Chalakee of Coweta, OK; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

Viewing will be Thursday from 2-7 pm at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.

The Celebration of Life will be at 1 pm Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Lighthouse Full Gospel Church in Wagoner. The Reverend Lisa Sowers will officiate.

Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK, where Leona will be laid to rest beside her husband, Cecil. Pallbearers will be Christopher Lee Foster, Patrick Javine, Rylan Javine, Jacob Brown, Joseph Brown and Olivia Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Geoffrey Javine, Joshua Brown, MaKayla Foster, Jackson Shanks, Megan Foster, Bethany Foster, Lacey Harrell, Michael Brown, Angelia Foster, Jack Spurrier, Chris Campbell, J.T. Harrell, Brooke Brown and Robbi Javine.
