Leona Joyce Lawhorn, a longtime Muskogee resident, died early Monday, July 1, 2013 in a Muskogee hospital. She was born July 11, 1942 in Hulbert, OK to Lorenzo Dow and Elsie Ella (Rhodes) Hylton. She made her home in Wagoner for many years before moving to Muskogee. Leona was blessed with two children, daughter Ellen Barbara Jean Eller and son Eric Lawhorn. Her family has always been the most important thing in her life. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Robin Lawhorn of Tahlequah; two grand-daughters, Cathy Lawhorn and Rachel Lawhorn, both of Tahlequah; two grandsons, Jayson Eller of Muskogee and Derrek Eller of Bartlesville; one great-grand-daughter, Hayden Eller of Muskogee; a niece, Trena Clopton of Muskogee; numerous other nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Elsie Hylton; her daughter, Ellen Barbara Jean Eller; a grandson, Waco Lee Eller; her brothers, Beauland, Roger Lee and Kenneth L. Hylton; and her sisters, Barbara White, Maxine Carter, Millie Tomaso and Frankie Rule. The family will hold a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. Mr. Leslie Ray Long will officiate. Cremation arrangements are by Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.
