Obituary

Lewis D. "Butch" Jennings was born June 20, 1945 in Bay City, Michigan to James Ward and Frances Evelyn (Shirley) Jennings. His family moved to Wagoner, OK at an early age, and Butch attended Wagoner High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Marines during the Vietnam Era and was part of the Tet Offensive.

Butch married the former Frances Elaine Muro on January 21, 1972. They had made Muskogee their home for the past seventeen years.   Butch was formerly employed at Wagoner Community Hospital in the maintenance operations. He was a member of the Oldham Baptist Church in Muskogee. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time, but his favorite was to spend time was with family playing board and card games.

Butch departed this life late Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Medical Center in Muskogee. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, James.

He is survived by his wife, Francie Jennings of the home; a daughter, Steffanie Thornburgh and her husband, Roy, of Muskogee; a grandson, Dylan Thornburgh of Muskogee; three sisters and their husbands, Lynette and Don Rice of Wagoner, Ok, Shirley and David Jenkins of Wagoner, and Ruth and Larry Schone of Whiteright, TX; a half-brother, Gary Jennings and wife, Phyllis, of Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Esther McQuiddy and husband, Ron of Tulsa, and Nancy Goodman and husband, Johnny, of Mannford, OK; two cousins, Jay Jennings and wife, Helen and Kay Dotson, all of Broken Arrow, OK; a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, June 13, 2016 at the Oldham Memorial Baptist Church in Muskogee, with the Reverend Glenn Little officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Pallbearers will be Dylan Thornburgh, Bryant Gugliuzzi, Lain Rice, Virgil Medley, Wes Young, and Jeff Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Rice, David Jenkins, Larry Schone, Jay Jennings, Bill Silvers, Ron Clark, and Johnny Goodman. Military Rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 15 from Muskogee, OK.

Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Monday 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
