Obituary

Linda Sue (James) Rose was born February 18, 1959 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Charles R. James Jr. and Ardis (Johnson) James. She moved to Wagoner at a young age and graduated from Wagoner High School. Linda later earned an Associate's Degree in Business while she and her mother, Ardis, attended Conners State College together. She was employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Muskogee before retiring. She was previously employed in the United States Marshall's office. Linda was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved flowers and antiques and worked selling antiques for a while. Linda departed this life on Thursday, December 13, 2012 in Wagoner, OK. She has shown courage and has been an inspiration to others through insurmountable health problems the last several years. Linda always had a good heart and was a true friend to all who knew her. Her generous spirit and great sense of humor will be missed by many. Survivors include her mother, Ardis Williams and her companion, Bill Hathaway, of Wagoner, Bill's family, to whom Linda felt a kinship; a brother, Edward James of El Reno, OK; a half-brother, Warren James; an uncle, Glen Johnson and his wife, Lois, of Emporia, KS; four aunts, Patricia Johnson of Newulm, MN, Shirley Parks and husband, Lawrence, of Redding, KS, Marilyn Miller of Rockwall, TX and Berneice Tredway and husband, Larry, of Galva, KS; numerous cousins; other relatives, many friends; and her pet dog, Sweetie Pie. Linda was preceded in death by her father, three uncles, Dr. Lawrence Johnson and his wife, Doris, Norman Johnson and Harold Byron Miller; grandparents, Ed and Fern Johnson and Lenore and Charles R. James Sr.; and two cousins, Mary Pat John son and Jerry Jay Johnson. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Wagoner. The Reverend Shannon Davis will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mark Hathaway, Kirk Hathaway, Lee Britt, Kenny Barnett, Phillip Sullivan and Jeff Powell. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, who is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund at First United Methodist Church in Wagoner.
