Louis Anton
White
December 14, 1930 – June 26, 2023
Louis Anton White was born December 14, 1930 at home in Wagoner County, Oklahoma to Elva and Thresa (Schmeider) White. Louis graduated from Wagoner High School in 1949, and on July 19, 1949 he married his high school sweetheart, the former Mary Sue Yates.
Louis began his career in the food industry at his first job working for Bayless Rutherford in the Star Market located on South Main Street in Wagoner. Along with that job Louis did farm work. After a few years he was hired to work in Tulsa at the Humpty Dumpty, later moving his employment to Skaggs.
This was the beginning of a long and successful career with Skaggs, in which Louis and Mary Sue experienced life in a number of different locations. They lived in Tucson, AZ from 1964 thru 1967 when Louis managed a Skaggs store, then to Kansas City where Louis was asked to open a Skaggs store. Next was Amarillo, TX for a short stint, back to Tulsa, to Midland, TX and then returning to Tulsa, where Louis retired from Skaggs. They moved to Odessa, MO for a while before returning to Wagoner to care for Mary Sue's sister. Their last move was back to Odessa, MO, where they made their permanent home.
Louis was a longtime and dedicated member of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, wherever they lived. He and Mary Sue were church youth sponsors at Rogers Heights Christian Church in Tulsa, Broadway Christian Church in Tucson, Hickman Mills Christian Church in Kansas City, First Christian Church in Amarillo, First Christian Church in Wagoner and the First Christian Church in Odessa, MO. They loved watching sports, especially if their grandchildren were playing. They traveled with Tresina to many locations to watch her in national dance competitions.
Louis departed this life Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO at the age of 92 years. He was welcomed on the other side by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Sue White; his parents, Elva and Thresa White; a grandson, Sean Stump; two brothers, Paul White and Leo White and a sister, Helen Weaver.
Louis is survived by two daughters, Teresa Begemann of Odessa, MO and Carol Scruggs of Haines City, FL; three grandchildren, Greg Stump, Tresina Alvested and Carrie Begemann; five great-grandchildren, McKayla Stump, Keller Stump, Trinity Alvested, Ashlee Stump and Fiorella Bonita-Stump.
The funeral service to celebrate Louis's life will be held at 10 am Saturday, July 22, 2023 in the First Christian Church in Wagoner, OK. Officiating will be the Reverend Dr. Cody Frech.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, where Louis will be laid to rest beside his wife, Mary Sue.
As Louis directed, there will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louis White to Three Rivers Hospice, 625 E. Russell Ave., Suite A, Warrensburg, MO 64093; First Christian Church, 415 NE 2nd St., Wagoner, OK 74467; or to the Alzheimer's Association.
