Lowel H. Lawson, 82, died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at his home in Wagoner. A visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 PM at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Monday, January 4, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Wagoner, where Lowel was a longtime member. Lowel was born December 15, 1927 in Lost Cane, AR to Roy A. and Anna Lara (Stutts) Lawson. He attended the University of Arkansas, and remained a big Razorback fan throughout his life. In June, 1948, he married Nadine Edmiston and moved to Wagoner in October, 1952. After her death in 1968, he married Patsy Ruth Spicer Ashbrener in April, 1969. Before retirement Lowel was a mechanic and small business owner. Earlier he worked as a milk man for Meadow Gold and at Douglas Aircraft. He was a 42 year member of the Wagoner Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow and received the Honorary Lifetime Member status in 2009. He later became a member of the Wagoner County Senior Citizens and enjoyed many senior activities with Patsy. As an avid outdoors man he loved to camp, hunt, fish, and garden. He especially enjoyed spending many vacations camping and hunting in Colorado with his family. He and Patsy enjoyed many years of arts and crafts and woodworking, even selling many of their creations at craft shows. His family will always cherish memories of the good times he had while playing cards, games, and camping with the grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Lawson of the home; children and their spouses, Stephanna and Michael Hays, Tommy and Tana Lawson, all of Wagoner, Teresa Marruffo of Tulsa, Mark and Brenda Ashbrener of Wagoner and Gale Ashbrener of Honolulu; three sisters, Doy Faye Jenkins and her husband, Jim of Smackover, AR, Marie Shoemaker of Plano, TX and Susan Lawson of Burlington, VT; grandchildren and their spouses, LaDonna (Hays) and Rick Henson of Wagoner, Kendra (Hays) and Ed Jackson of Porter, OK, Amber (Lawson) and Luis Garcia, Michael T. Lawson and Lauren David, all of Tulsa; Sara Marruffo and Margo Russell of Amherst, MA, Rosa Marruffo and Cristina Marruffo of Tulsa, Julie (Ashbrener) and Joe Hopping of Wagoner, Jill Ashbrener of Jay, OK, Bryan Carr, Brandon and Kassy Carr and Brock Carr; great-grandchildren, Sheldon, Chaylor and Bristo Love, Zenon and J'Luca Garcia, Eli Hopping, Kage Henson and Kenzie Carr; sisters-in-law, Ruby Lawson of Muskogee, Floy Lawson and Marjorie Hart, of Springdale, AR. Lowel was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nadine Lawson, grandson, John Lowel Hays and four brothers, George, Doug, Roy Jr. and Hassel Lawson. Memorial donations in Lowel's memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church Children's Department or to the Wagoner County Senior Citizens.
