Lucille Smith was born August 7, 1939 at home in Clarkesville, near Porter, OK to Claude Eugene Smith Sr. and Verba Jane (McEntire) Smith. Her family relocated to Okay, OK where Lucille graduated from Okay High School. She continued to make Okay her home until her passing.
Lucille was a longtime member of the Okay Christian Fellowship. She loved her church family and other friends.
For fourteen years she served as foster grandparent at the Okay School. Although she was sometimes weary, Lucille carried on, telling her family that, if she could make a difference in one child's life, it would be worth it.
In her spare time Lucille enjoyed being in her garden tending her flowers and liked collecting owls.
Lucille departed this life to be with the Lord Monday evening, January 11, 2021 at the McAlester Nursing Center at the age of 81 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Smith; daughter, Barbara Hooper; brothers, Claude Smith and Douglas Smith and a sister, Billie Jean Liles.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Annette Smith of Talihina, OK; her daughter and son-in-law, Annie and Andrew Grotts of Nobel, OK; one brother, Leonard Smith; a sister, Sue Arthur; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held t 11:00 am Friday, January 15, 2021 at Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay, OK. The Reverend Dallas Capps will officiate.
