Lura Vee Cole was born July 25, 1922 in Kansas to Bertha Mae (Parnell) and Benjamin Harrison Peace. She was married to Dave Jo Cole, who preceded her in death. They made their home in the Whitehorn Cove area near Wagoner for many years. Lura's family will always cherish the wonderful memories of family gatherings, when everyone enjoyed the dinners prepared by Lura, who was an awesome cook and baker, and spent many happy hours enjoying Fort Gibson Lake nearby. Lura's world centered on her family; she doted on her children and grandchildren. Lura departed this life Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; her parents; two sons, David Lee Cole and Dean Harrison Cole, and an infant daughter, Carolyn Jean. Survivors include two daughters, Connie Jo Lewis and Patricia Kay Brown; two brothers, Kenneth Peace and Clarence Dale Peace; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Greenwood Cemetery in Porter under the direction of Mallett Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Loy Hoskins will officiate.
