Graveside funeral services for M. Faye (Buster) Metcalf, 86, were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2010 in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter with the Reverend Bill Holcomb officiating. Faye was born November 23, 1923 in London, Arkansas to her parents, Arthur and Della (Strode) Kendrick. When Faye was 12 years old her family moved to Porter, Oklahoma where she would grow up and attend school. Along with being a wonderful homemaker, Faye ran the store and café next to the Porter schools from 1956 to 1967. She also wrote the Porter News' section of Wagoner Tribune newspaper for many years. Faye was a member of the First Baptist Church of Porter and later a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Muskogee. Faye enjoyed working crossword puzzles; however her greatest passion and joy came from loving and caring for her grandchildren. Surrounded by her family, Faye passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Wagoner Care Center. Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Buster; her daughter, Carol Jeanette Buster; her grandson, Shawn Mann and her sister, Gladys Tinnin. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Hill of Skiatook and Laura Cox and her husband, Jarrell of Muskogee; two grandchildren, Toby Vaughn and his wife, Deborah and Tara Vaughn; two great-grandchildren, Austin Mullins and Kelsey Dotson; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Juanita Noe of Fullerton, California, Jeri Winiger of Doraville, Georgia and Bobbye Emery of Peoria, Arizona; her former husband and closest friend, Elmer Metcalf; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
