Margaret Ann (Hunt) Laner was born on October 21, 1932, in Skiatook, Oklahoma, to William Wilson Hunt and Dorothy Mae (Furr) Hunt. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On May 23, 1951, she married the love of her life, Rondal Wendall Laner, and they were happily married for 60 years until his passing in 2011.
Margaret was a cherished pillar of her church, family, and community, exemplifying the virtues of a devoted Christian woman, through her lifelong dedication to teaching and her unwavering support for her husband Ron in their business, Whitehorn Cove Marine. As a proud charter member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church, she spent over 60 years in service, nurturing the faith of others teaching both youth Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was passionate about tending to her home and family plus she ensured her yard remained immaculate and green. Her love for her grandchildren shone through her joyful baking of chocolate chip cookies and pies, creating lasting memories and a legacy of love that will be fondly remembered.
Margaret departed this life at the age of 92 years on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at The Grove at Midtown, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy Hunt; husband, Ron Laner; grandson, Roger Wayne Hunt; brother, Phillip Raymond Hunt; brother-in-law, Lloyd McGuire; and son-in-law, Bill Wingo.
Surviving Margaret and cherishing the many memories of her life include her children, Jeanette Wingo, Christine Cranke and husband David, Rick Laner and wife Darla, Kathy Frost and husband David; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jo McGuire; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family all who will miss her dearly.
Margaret's impact on her family's life will continue to resonate, as cherished moments and shared experiences become a source of strength and inspiration for her family, ensuring that her spirit remains vibrant in their hearts and minds.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Twin Oaks Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Wesley Graver officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A Visitation for family and friends to gather will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
