Obituary

Margaret Mae Lang Seratt was born on October 28, 1932 to Frank Webster Lang and Grace Margaret Scott Lang in Monterey, California.  She died October 16, 2017 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital after a heart valve replacement. Her struggle with Atrial Fib is over.

Marge spent her childhood moving around the Carmel Valley area and all over southern California.   She moved to Oklahoma with her younger sister and mother in 1946.  Marge attended Hulbert High School where she met the love of her life, John Franklin Seratt.  She loved his honesty and integrity.  They were married December 24, 1949 at the tender age of seventeen.  They remained together for over 67 years.  Together they raised three children, John Allen, Ellen Kay, and Gale Winifred Seratt.  Marge was baptized May 28, 1961 and became a faithful member of the Baptist Church.  She taught children in Sunday school for many years as well as coordinating Vacation Bible School.  She later taught a women's Sunday school class.

Marge supported and helped John in his construction business until retiring to the Porter farm.  After raising cattle for seventeen years, John and Marge moved back to their Lake house and spent summers in South Fork, Colorado where they built a summer house.  Marge enjoyed reading her Bible, quilting, cooking and growing flowers.  Marge liked things simple and clean.  She was particular about her house and very thrifty.

Family was the most important thing for Marge.  She wanted to provide a stable home life for her husband and children, and she did just that.  She may not have baked cookies every day for the kids after school, but she was always there to listen to their stories and give guiding words of wisdom.  Her home was always warm and comfortable and a safe place to grow up.  Home-cooked meals were always the norm.  Marge was dependable, thoughtful, and caring.

Marge is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Grace Lang, parents-in-law Henry and Ina Seratt, Sister Pat Errington, niece and nephew Kathy and Todd Errington, and great-grandson, Jacob Millikin.  She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, John Franklin Seratt of the home, and three children John Allen and Beverly Seratt of Porter, Ellen Kay Rodriguez formerly of Norman, and Gale and Dennis Peters of Claremore.  She has seven grandchildren, Damian and Michelle Rodriguez of Edmond, Cary and Tammie Gilmore of Pensacola, Florida, John and Michell Rodriguez of Skiatook, Jason and Terri Peters of Claremore, Glenda and Zac Millikin of Pryor, Fallon and Wes Withers of Coweta, and John Henry Seratt of Porter, along with fourteen great-grandchildren.  Marge is also survived by brother-in-law Jim and Cathy Seratt of Wagoner, and sisters-in-law, Earline and Charlie Wyman of Verdigris, Margie Belle and Bob Duvall of Hulbert, and Irene Seratt Coorey of Charlotte, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.  She will be missed by all as well as her church family.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 22, 2017, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory.
