Funeral services for Mark Walters, 42, of Porter, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 19 at the First Baptist Church in Porter with the Reverend Dale Clayton officiating. Mark was born September 1, 1967 in Muskogee to his parents, Bob and Julie Walters. His family moved to Porter in 1970 where Mark graduated from high school in 1985. He later earned an Associates Degree from OSU Tech in Okmulgee. Mark became a minister and was very dedicated and passionate about his love of Christ, witnessing at every opportunity. He counseled and ministered to inmates at Jess Dunn and the Dept. of Corrections and founded and served as pastor to the Living the Word Fellowship Church in Wagoner. He was very musical and loved playing the drums. Mark loved to share his knowledge of the word and teach children. He assisted the coaching staff of the Noah Jaguars football team and served as an equipment manager. He shared his love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing and taught the world of nature to his children. Mark passed this life Friday, August 13, 2010 in Coweta. He was preceded in death by his father and by his grandparents, Toad Walters, and Don and Wilma Skinner. He is survived by his children, Desiree, Micaiah, Stephanie and Isaiah and their mother, Jennifer of the home; his mother, Julie Walters; his sister, Kellie Ussery and her husband, Russell and their children, April and Steven; his grandmother, Orene Walters all of Porter; aunts and uncles, John and Sue Walters of Page, AZ, Barry and Peggy Skinner of San Diego, CA, Lila and James Bell and Donna Martinez all of Muskogee; other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers are Chris Sowers, Lance Goodfellow, Floyd Carey, Josh Fry, Daryl Martinez and Joe Blankenship. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Porter.
