Mary Anna Betts Carl, 71, departed this life on June 30, 2015. Mary was born in Wagoner, Oklahoma on February 22, 1944 to her parents, Estel Leo Betts Jr. and Beatrice Betty Jo (Mooring) Dickson. Mary and her family traveled and lived in several cities because her grandfather (Luther Mooring) worked for Standard Paving Company. They settled in Tulsa when it was time for Mary and her siblings to attend school. Mary graduated from Nathan Hale in 1962, then moved to Phoenix, Arizona with her mother and brother to attend Arizona State University to obtain a Bachelors of Liberal Arts. Once she completed her degree she returned to Tulsa to attend Ray's Beauty School of Hairstyling. Mary received her license for Basic, Advanced and Instructors, and started doing hair. Mary married Donald Carl on October 13, 1993. Mary and Don spent the winters in Texas and the rest of the time in the Claremore area. Mary continued to work as a hairstylist, which is what she loved. Mary became a caregiver for her mother, Beatrice Dickson. Mary loved her family, and she enjoyed her plants, pet and friends. Mary Is survived by her mother, Beatrice Dickson; one son, Leon Charles Sumner of Battleground, Washington; two daughters, Andrea Perkins and spouse, Mark, of Chouteau, Oklahoma and Christina Duvall and spouse, Craig, of Welch, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Vanessa Huckaby and spouse Spencer, Darrell Sumner, Charles Sumner, Kelcie Duvall, and Brent Duvall; three great-grandchildren, Ronnie Huckaby, Lexi Huckaby and Carson Sumner. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Estel Leo Betts, and two brothers, Michael Betts and Waymon Dickson Jr. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, OK.
