Obituary

Longtime Wagoner resident Mary D. Hunter died at her home early Saturday, December 5, 2009, after a brief illness. She was 81 years old and much loved by her friends and family. Born in Sun City, Kansas on April 16, 1928, she was raised in Missouri and Oklahoma and attended high school in Boynton, Oklahoma where she met T.H. (Red) Hunter whom she married in 1945. She and T.H. moved to Wagoner 60 years ago and raised their three children: Harvey, Judy and Janette. T.H. was a long time employee of Oklahoma Natural Gas while Mary worked for Pat Johnston Agency for 28 years before purchasing the business and running it as Hunter Income Tax and Accounting for another 12 years. Mary was an active member and supporter of the First Baptist Church in Wagoner where she participated in the Seratt Charboneau Sunday School Class. She loved to read everything from the Bible to the Readers Digest. She enjoyed needlework and her Christmas stockings are proudly displayed by the extended family as gifts of love as well as works of art. A dignified lady, Mary was loving and generous throughout her life and in her death. She had a true best friend for more than 60 years in Charlene Dorr, also of Wagoner.
