Mary Ella Lightsey Gaylor was born July 19, 1947 in Ramona, Oklahoma to her loving parents, Thomas Lightsey and Laura Sallee Lightsey Wilson. The family moved to Wagoner, OK when Mary was only a few years old, returning to Thomas' home town, and to be near Laura's family in Muskogee, OK. Mary attended Wagoner Public Schools. She was a member of the WHS marching band, where she played the flute. She was a graduate of the Class of 1965. They were a particularly close group of classmates, and all of them are thankful to have enjoyed Mary's company at a fiftieth class reunion this past June. Shortly after graduation, Mary married the love of her life, Guy A. Gaylor, who preceded her in death March 8 of this year. Mary's devotion to Guy's care during his lengthy illness spoke of their deep love and commitment to each other. They made their home in Wagoner all their lives together, enjoying raising their sons, Guy Allen and Grant Adam, and being active participants in the community and their church, First Christian Church of Wagoner. Mary continued to be active with the DOCKS after school church program and in tutoring in the adult reading education program in Wagoner. Mary was employed by the Wagoner Public School System for many years before retirement. She was the secretary at Maple Park Elementary for a long time before moving into other areas in the school. Mary Gaylor departed this life early Friday, November 20, 2015 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following a brief illness.
