IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Sue
Naugher
September 30, 1932 – December 4, 2016
Mary Sue (Morgan) Naugher was born on September 20, 1932 in Collin County, Texas, and passed to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Throughout her 84 years, Sue travelled many miles, impacted many lives, and was loved by many people from all walks of life. Her devotion to God, family and community was immortalized in September 2016 with a building dedication at First Baptist Church of Wagoner to honor 30 years of service by her and her late husband Rev. Wayne Naugher.
Sue had the unique ability to make everyone feel special. She knew no stranger and saw the potential in people, which was an important part of her legacy as a wife, mother and educator. Her keen business acumen and interpersonal skills provided many great opportunities in her young adult days working in Denton, Texas. However, a passion for ministry--especially working with young people--led not only to her ultimate mission, but to the man she would marry and live with for nearly 60 years.
She embraced her role as pastor's wife and mother. Sue was a devoted partner and confidant working as a team to support each other for God's glory. This was evident as people regularly referred to them together: "Brother Wayne and Sue"—rarely mentioning one name without the other. She made a great life for her sons, often handling the home front alone while Wayne was fulfilling his duty serving those in need at all hours of the day.
Sue graduated from North Texas Demonstration High School in Denton, Texas; completed her B.A. in Education at North Texas State University in Denton (now the University of North Texas); and earned her Master's in Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She taught in the Wagoner Public School System for many years before retiring in 1980.
Sue is proceeded in death by her father and mother, William and Nettie Morgan; and her husband Rev. Wayne Naugher. She is survived by twin sister Betty Sefcik of Iowa Park, Texas; son Andrew and his wife Amy of Tulsa; son John of Dallas; along with nine grandchildren, other special family members and countless friends.
While flowers are appreciated, the family asks you to consider donations to Clarehouse ( www.clarehouse.org/donate ), an incredible hospice facility that took care of Sue and Wayne in their last days; or Go Ye Village ( http://www.goyevillage.org/donate.html ), a wonderful retirement community where Sue was a resident.
