Mary Ellen Rogers

Mary Ellen Rogers passed from this life on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 82 years. She was born on June 20, 1943, to Clorus Edwards and Billie (Archambeau) Edwards in San Diego, California. As the daughter of a veteran, frequent moves were a part of her childhood. Through every transition, she carried with her a strong spirit and a compassionate heart. She attended and graduated from Porter High School and went on to dedicate her life to caring for others.

Mary was a very caring and compassionate woman whose calling to serve led her into the nursing profession. She worked for several years as a Registered Nurse at Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Her commitment to helping others later led her to become a travel nurse, where she spent ten years serving patients in various places before her retirement. Nursing was more than a career to Mary. It was a reflection of who she was. She cared deeply and gave of herself freely to those in need.

She was a devoted mother and daughter who placed her family at the center of her life. Mary loved her family deeply and especially treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for calling on short notice to get her grandchildren and simply expecting their parents to be fine with it. Time spent with them brought her immeasurable joy and countless cherished memories.

In her quieter moments, Mary enjoyed crocheting, reading, and photography. She traveled to several national parks, pursuing her love of capturing the beauty of God’s creation through her camera lens. Whether behind a camera or with yarn in her hands, she created things that reflected patience, creativity, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clorus and Billie (Archambeau) Edwards, and her sister, Billie Edwards.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son in law, Chemen Carter and Westly of Wagoner, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her gentle spirit and loving heart.

Mary’s life was one of compassion, service, and devotion to family. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and in the memories held close by those who loved her.
