Obituary

Maxine Civilla Jernigan passed away July 18, 2020 in Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of eighty-nine years.  She was born January 27, 1931 in Checotah, Oklahoma to Loran Emett and Mae (Smallwood) McElroy.

She married Walter Lee Jernigan on February 2, 1946, in Eufaula, Oklahoma.  Maxine had worked as a real estate agent in California and retired as office manager of K-Mart.  She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church where she was very active in helping in any way she could.

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, Loran and Mae McElroy and her sister, Nellie Waters.

She is survived by her daughter Sandee Renzelman and husband, Victor who was a great help in caring for Maxine the last several years.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brad and wife, Myrian of Colorado, Todd and wife, Tammie of Montana, Nikki and husband, Chris of California and Brian of California; eight great grandchildren, Kati, Breana, Preston, Carson, Zachary, Jadyn, Owen and Wyatt; a great-great granddaughter, Matti; sister, Bertha Goodman and husband, Vernon of Wagoner and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Viewing will be on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service celebrating the life of Maxine Jernigan will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner, Oklahoma with Reverend Wesley Graver officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Victor Renzelman, Brad Renzelman, Todd Day, Josh Jernigan, Daniel Rose, Larry Felmlee, Rick Bryant, and Phillip Goodman. Private interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma.
