Obituary

Maxine June Owen was born on June 2, 1943, to Orval Lee Owen and Ergie Jane (Roberts) Owen, in Wagoner, Oklahoma. She was a Wagoner High School graduate.  Her generous personality was present through every interaction, as she constantly sought opportunities to lend a hand, offer support, or simply brighten someone's day.  Her innate empathy inspired those around her.

Maxine was a kind-hearted and nurturing individual who dedicated herself to making a positive impact on the lives of those around her.  Through fostering children, she demonstrated selfless love and care for children in need, providing them with a safe and loving environment.  In her free time, she found joy in creative pursuits like sewing, quilting, and embroidery, which allowed her to express herself and bring warmth and comfort to others.  Her love for her family was evident in the way she spoiled her nieces and nephews, treating them like her own children and showering them with attention and affection.  And, of course, her passion for dogs only added to her warm and loving nature.  She enjoyed taking care of her birds and tending to her houseplants.

Maxine departed this life on Tuesday evening, January 7, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years.  Preceding her in death are her parents, Orval and Ergie Owen; her siblings, Lewis Owen, Ona Lee Richardson, Pat Burk, Josephine Coblentz, Jeri Dillingham, Cheri Dry, and Katherine Parks; her daughter, Dana Worley; and her lifelong partner, Vaden Roberts.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Regina Hensley of Tulsa, OK; her brothers, Lonnie Owen of Wagoner, OK, Jarrett Owen and wife, Patsy of Wagoner, OK, Gerry Owen and wife, Sharon of Mazie, OK, and Tony Owen and wife, Kathy of Wagoner, OK; and numerous nieces, and nephews who will miss her greatly.

A Celebration of Life, honoring the life of Maxine Owen, will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Mazie First Baptist Church, Mazie, Oklahoma, at 1:00 pm.
