Maydrene Louise Smith was born April 10, 1939 in Hulbert, OK to Jack and Viola (Thornburg) Cowden. She was a long time member of the First Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday school for more than twenty years. Maydrene adored children and especially relished being with her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed flowers and loved to quilt and embroider. Maydrene departed this life on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at her home in Wagoner, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Smith; her parents; two sisters, Mural Rogers and Eudora Cowden; a brother, James Cowden; an infant son, and infant grandson. Survivors include a son, James Randall Smith of Wagoner, OK; a daughter, Sheila Gale Pilant and her husband, James, of Salina, OK; a grandson, Brett Young of Wagoner, OK; a granddaughter, Kristi Allison and her husband, Cody, of Hawaii; four great-grandchildren, Braden, Gavin, Aubree and Jake, all of Hawaii; brothers, Roy Cowden and his wife, Simone, of Hulbert, Robert Cowden and his wife, Anita, of Okay, OK, Ralph Cowden and wife, Jan, of Muskogee, Ok, Clifford Cowden and wife, Joann of Okay, Jerry Cowden and wife, Norma, of Hulbert, OK; sisters, Marie Buford of Hulbert, OK, Sue Luna and husband, Bill, of Wagoner, OK, Nomie McMahan and husband, Bruce, of Wagoner, OK; three sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; and friends. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Church of God in Wagoner. The Reverend Bruce VonWald will officiate. Interment will be later in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, with the Reverend Willie Rice officiating.
