Obituary

Mickey Ray Moreland was born March 18, 1951 in Wagoner, OK to Homer and Bonnie Marie (Clarkson) Moreland. After high school Mickey entered the United States Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War, earning the Medal of Valor for Service as well as other recognitions. Following active service he was in the reserves in Maryland. Before retirement Mickey was employed at the Ford Glass Plant as a high-low driver.

Mickey and the love of his life, his wife, the former Kathy Ann Harris, have enjoyed a long life together for 41 years while they made a home and raised their children. Mickey enjoyed a number of hobbies, including hunting and fishing, horseback and bull riding. He loved NASCAR and watched WWE wrestling every time it was on television.

Mickey departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at his home in Porter, OK. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Moreland; his father, Homer Moreland; a sister, Geneva Laverne Moreland; brother, Bill Moreland and brother, Jimmy 'Tex' Moreland.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy Moreland of the home; daughter, Terrell (Moreland) Liles of Broken Arrow; sons and spouses, Dennis and Tabitha Moreland of Coweta, Michael and Michelle Moreland of Muskogee, Jessie and Desi Moreland of Braggs and Jason and Christina Moreland of Porter; sisters, Sharon Payne of Porter, Joy and Terry Hendrix of Broken Arrow, and Ruthie and Benjamin Wray of Broken Arrow; grandchildren, Kelci, Kindy, Summer, Haylee, Carson, Coltan, Christian and Dakota; great-grandchildren, Adriana, Aurora, Aspen, Waylon, Roselynn and one on the way; other family and friends.

Viewing will be Tuesday from 10 am until 7 pm.

The funeral to celebrate Mickey's life will be at 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 18 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner. Officiating will be Reverend Jerry Eperson. Pallbearers will be Darryl Haywood, Danny Dixon, Jimmy Wayne Moreland, John Liles, Randy Hobbs and Terry Hendrix.

Interment will be at 1:30 pm at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Military Rites will be presented by the United States Army Honors Team.
