Nana Jean Essary, 70, of Porter, OK, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019.
Born August 30, 1948 in Muskogee, OK, she was the daughter of the late Will Ernest and Erlene Johnson.
She worked for Porter Schools as the superintendent's secretary for 20 years as well as part-time at Livesay Orchards. She enjoyed baking and won several awards for her delicious peach cobblers. She loved animals and spending time outside on her farm. She was a lifelong, faithful member of the Porter Church of Christ and enjoyed her weekly ladies bible study.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Roy Essary; one son, Michael Essary and wife Shelly from Basehor, KS; two daughters, Marcy Essary of Owasso, OK and Mandy Stansberry and husband Matt of Edmond, OK. She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Anderson and Archer Essary; Addi, Lily and Sophia Martin; and Vivian, Violet and Vera Stansberry.
A celebration of her life will be conducted on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 1:00pm at the Porter Church of Christ with her son, Michael Essary officiating. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Porter, OK. Pallbearers will be Roy Cole, Pat Boyd, Aaron Johnson, Junior Lang, Joe Brewer and Matt Stansberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Schauffler, Mark Fenton, Terry Brackett, Steve Staner, Kenneth Kilgore, Larry Shackleford, Clifton Summerall, Don Essary and Kent Livesay.
Viewing will be on May 14, 2019 from 11:00am to 7:00PM at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
