The funeral service to celebrate the life of Nellie Mae Barnett will be at 10:00 am Thursday, March 21, 2019 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory, 417 East Cherokee Street, Wagoner, Oklahoma. Officiating will be the Reverend Will Smith.
Interment will follow at 12:00 pm at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, where Nellie will be laid to rest with her husband, Napoleon "Polie" Barnett, who was deceased in 2004.
Nellie Mae (Finical) Barnett was born September 17, 1927 in Wagoner, Oklahoma to Elijah and Ivey Jane (Vest) Finical. She graduated from Wagoner High School. Nellie was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Wagoner and member of the DAV Auxiliary.
Many remember Nellie when she worked at the Owl Drug on South Main Street in Wagoner. She was employed there for thirty years before she retired.
Nellie departed this life on Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Claremore Nursing Home, Claremore, Oklahoma, where she had made her home for several years.
Survivors include a daughter, Annette Campbell and husband, Kenneth; her brother, Bob Finical and his family; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; extended family and her friends.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Ivey Jane Finical; her husband, Napoleon B. "Polie" Barnett; a daughter, Pamela Sue Stevenson; two brothers, Joe Finical and Elmer Finical and a sister, Maggie Fenstermacher.
