Norma Faye McDaris

Norma Faye (Shearrer) McDaris was born on December 10, 1935, to Robert Eli Shearrer and Nellie May (Criner) Shearrer in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Norma attended and graduated from Wagoner Public Schools. Shortly after high school, Norma married the love of her life, James Kelly McDaris. They shared 55 years of devoted marriage until his passing in 2008.

Norma enjoyed cooking, especially during the holidays, and her family always looked forward to her outstanding chocolate sheet cake. She loved crocheting and made many beautiful blankets over the years. Above all, Norma was a loving and caring person. She dedicated herself to caring for those she loved, even while working full-time, raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with unwavering devotion.

Norma went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, while her loving family was at her side, at the age of 90 years. Preceding her in death are her parents, Robert and Nellie Shearrer; her beloved husband, James Kelly McDaris; her sons, James Douglas McDaris and Stephen Kelly McDaris; her daughter, Eva Marie McDaris; her sister, Lois Oleta Nicholas; and her brothers, Willard Shearrer, Denver Shearrer, and Cecil Shearrer.

Those left to cherish the many fond memories of her life include her son, Roger Keith McDaris of Wagoner, OK; her grandchildren, Staci Baker, Jesse McDaris, and Nicole McDaris; great-grandchildren, Harley, Matayia, Devin, Darrin, Kaidyn, Nevaeh, and Nykolas; great-great grandson, Grayson McDaris; and nieces, Gayle Nicholas and Oleta Snape, both of Texas.

Norma’s family will miss her immensely, yet they will hold tightly to the many precious memories she leaves behind. Her legacy will endure through the stories shared and the generations who will honor and remember her life.

Family will greet friends at a Visitation on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor the life of Norma McDaris on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Oklahoma, where Norma will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, James Kelly McDaris.
