Odie Lee Liles was born Dec. 11, 1928 in Warner, OK to his parents, John B. and Rose Ella (Martin) Liles. He grew up and attended school in the area before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving his country during the Korean War. After returning from the war, Odie was united in marriage to Billy Jean Smith on Sept. 19, 1953. He worked for many years in the food service department of the Veteran's Administration before his retirement. He was a member of the V.F.W., Post 474 and the D.A.V., Post 7, both of Muskogee, OK. Odie always enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor. He was also a devoted member of the Wagoner United Pentecostal Church and helped build the church. Odie passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at the V.A. Medical Center in Muskogee at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents, all 12 of his siblings, a half-brother and a son, Glen Liles. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Billy Jean Liles of Okay, OK; his children, Dennis Liles of Okay, Phillis Sellers, also of Okay, Arlene Abbott of Mena, AR and John Liles; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Shirley Herring of Porter and Wanda Sanders of Barling, AR and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Wagoner United Pentecostal Church, with the Reverend Micah Wisdom officiating. Interment will be in Three Rivers Cemetery, Okay, OK. Pallbearers will be Gary Moore, Michael Moore, David Moore, Don Moore, Jason Weaver and John Lamon. Honorary Pallbearers are Dwight Epperson and Danny Epperson.
