Onaway (Twist) McGlothlin was born July 12, 1923 in Vian, OK to Ed and Daisy Mary (Jackson) Twist. She married Johnie Lee McGlothlin on August 15, 1939, and they began a long and happy life together, in which Onaway participated in missionary work and supported her husband's ministry of 55 years. She was there to help him organize and serve as the first minister to the Church of God of Prophecy, as well as other congregations. Onaway departed from this life on July 14, 2011, just 2 days past her 88th birthday. Her husband, J.L., preceded her in death in 2009 after 70 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Verl and Edward, and four sisters, Dorothy, Nellie, Ellen and Freda. She is survived by her daughter, Wayona McGlothlin of Wagoner; a sister, Louise McConnell of Wagoner; a brother, Charles Twist of Yale, OK; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Wagoner. The Reverend Clay Frost will officiate. Pallbearers will be Carl Davis, Carl Davis, Jr., James McConnell, Nicholas McConnell, Dale Russell and Roy Taylor. Friends may call for viewing Sunday 1-5 p.m. and Monday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner.
