The funeral service for Opal Henderson will be at 10 AM Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Church of God in Wagoner. The Reverend Carl Murphy will officiate. Pallbearers will be Curtis Turner, Ron Schump, David Hennings, Jay Hennings, Roger Fielden and Donald E. Fielden, Jr. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner. Opal Irene Henderson was born August 21, 1925, in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, to Earnest and Fannie (White) Busby. On July 19, 1943, Opal was married to A.J. Jay' Henderson in Wagoner, and they began a long and happy marriage that lasted for more than 65 years. In the early years they made their home in Missouri but soon settled in Wagoner where they raised their family. They were members of the Church of God. Opal taught the Juniors Sunday school class. They also attended the Assembly of God and Pentecostal Holiness churches. Opal was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her family. In her later years Opal began making and selling arts and crafts. One of Opal's greatest joys was her grandchildren, who affectionately call her Granny.' Opal departed this life on Saturday, January 10, 2009, in Kansas City, MO, at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 20 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, J. W. Busby, Kenneth Busby, and Ronald Busby. She is survived by her husband, A.J. Henderson, two daughters and sons-in-law, Venda Irene and Ron Schump of Kansas City, MO, and Brenda Arlene and Curtis Turner of Tulsa; four grandchildren, Summer Turner and Jacqueline Turner, both of Tulsa, Jay Hennings and his wife, Natasha, of Kansas City, MO, and Dr. David Hennings and his wife, Staci, of Loveland, CO; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hennings and Ryan Hennings; two sisters, Rubie Disheroon of Tahlequah and Melba Fielden of Sand Springs; three brothers, Ernie Busby of Sand Springs, Virgil Busby of Wagoner and David Busby of Washington state; and other relatives and friends.
