Patricia Ann Garvin

Dec 4, 1946 — Aug 12, 2026

Broken Arrow

Patricia Ann (Nunn) Garvin, 79 passed away peacefully at her home in Tulsa, OK on August 12, 2026.

Patricia was born on December 4th, 1946, in Clovis, California to parents Samuel and Velma (Holmes) Nunn.  The family moved back home to Hanna, Oklahoma in 1948, and lived in her great grandparents log cabin until Samuel bought the farm that remains in the family today.  Patricia attended Hanna Public Schools, were she was involved in many activities such as 4H where she was a blue ribbon winning Grand Champion, and played basketball. Patricia was also Valedictorian of the class of 1965.

After High School, Patricia moved to OKC where she attended OCC and worked for the OKC police department, as a secretary for the detectives division, and even getting to take part in some undercover work, A year later she moved to Tahlequah and attended Northeastern State University and studied Vocational Home Economics.  While at Northeastern she met Dana Butcher, with whom she would marry and have 2 daughters, Angie and Jennifer.

Some years later, Patricia moved to Wagoner, OK and began working at Prestolite, where she met Randy.  She and Randy were married for 45 years, having a son, Chad, and raising their family in Wagoner.  After working at Prestolite for over 20 years, Patricia opened Pat's Emporium, a Merle Norman cosmetics studio and gift shop, which she ran for 5 years until she and Randy relocated to Batavia, IL in 2004. A few years after living in Illinois, Patricia was diagnosed with Semantic Dementia.  A disease that slowly affected her ability to communicate.  Randy and Patricia moved back to Oklahoma in 2012 to be closer to family.

Patricia loved to dance, smile, put on makeup, and, of course her grandkids.  She was the sweetest woman and would have done anything for her family.  She was a dedicated mother, who cooked every night, sewed Halloween costumes, and went above and beyond for her children every chance she got.  Patricia loved to decorate for every holiday. One year after having dementia for several years, she didn't realize the holidays were upon us until the evening of December 23rd.  She spent the next 24 hours decorating the entire house floor to ceiling, despite being told many times, "that's enough".  She wasn't going to finish until every decoration she possessed had been set out.  In her later years there wasn't anything she enjoyed more than spending all day outside getting a tan and tending to her plants and flower beds and didn't want anyone else messing with them.  Randy found out the hard way once, while trying to pull weeds from her flower beds, he was met with a shovel to the head (lightly).

Patricia is survived by sisters, Sherie Flud and Shelia McCain, daughters Angie (John) Thomas and Jennifer O'Stasik, son, Chad (Chelsey) Garvin.  Grandchildren, Bailee Thomas, Brooke Thomas, Larkin O'Stasik, and Heron Boyen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Garvin, and her parents, Samuel and Velma Nunn.
