Patrick Lawrence Young

Patrick Lawrence Young, a Wagoner resident, proud United States Army Veteran, farmer, and rancher, passed from this life on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Patrick was born on March 15, 1950, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to George Lorain Young and Louise Imogene (Austin) Young. He grew up in Wagoner and graduated from Wagoner High School with the Class of 1969. Following high school, Patrick proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Patrick was one of the hardest-working men you could ever meet. He was employed with CRC Evans, where his abilities as a welder earned him great trust. Patrick was the only employee entrusted to weld certain tanks, with his work known and guaranteed not to leak. His talents did not stop there. He had an ingenious mechanical mind and could build, repair, or create nearly anything. On the family farm, he often made parts for his own equipment when something was needed. He even constructed a steel storm cellar for a gentleman he knew. If Patrick could picture how something needed to work, chances were he could find a way to build it.

After retiring, Patrick continued farming and ranching on the family farm, a way of life he truly enjoyed. He loved being outdoors, working with his hands, and taking care of the land.

Patrick also had a fun-loving side and was known to be quite the prankster. He enjoyed aggravating others every chance he got, usually with a smile nearby. Outgoing and friendly, Patrick never met a stranger. He was often the first to greet someone, start a conversation, and enjoy a good visit. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.

Above all, Patrick loved his family. He especially cherished his mother, Louise, and the bond they shared. He also loved his dog, Buddy, who became a faithful companion. Patrick enjoyed taking Buddy to the farm stores, where Buddy always seemed to know exactly where to go to get his treat.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, George and Louise Young; his son, Charles Young; his brother, Randal Young; his nephews, Tony Young and Jake Allison; his sisters-in-law, Shirley Young and Deborah Brown; his brother-in-law, David Lloyd; and the mother of his children, Ladonna Young.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Richard Eugene Young and his partner, Tiffany of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his granddaughter, Haley Jeannette Duckworth and husband, Garrett of Edmond, Oklahoma; his siblings, Katherine Elaine Lloyd of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Timothy Robert Young and wife, Lydia, of Inola, Oklahoma, Patricia Loraine Young of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Daniel Reid Young and wife, Karan, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, David Alan Young and wife, Sherry, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Betty Jane Keefover of Wagoner, Oklahoma, James Raymond Young and wife, Laura, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Cindy Louise Gilstrap and husband, Marty, of Porum, Oklahoma, and Melinda Robin Young of Wagoner, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; his most favorite niece, Rebecca Grant; and special friends, Wes and Rachel Coffey, Bill and Joyce Loftin, and Ollie Hankins.

Patrick will be remembered for his remarkable work ethic, clever mind, quick wit, and ability to make or fix just about anything. More importantly, he will be remembered for the conversations, laughter, and memories he shared with the people he loved. A man who never met a stranger, Patrick leaves behind a life and personality that will not soon be forgotten.

Patrick's family will greet friends at a Visitation that will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 5-7 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service honoring the life of Patrick Young will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.

Interment will be at 12:30 pm at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. The United States Army Funeral Honors Team will conduct Military honors.
