Ramon Ferman

In Loving Memory of Ramon Ferman July 17, 1964 – August 24, 2026

 Ramon Ferman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed from this life on August 24, 2026, at 4:39 a.m., surrounded by his wife and sons. He was 62 years old.

 Ramon was born on July 17, 1964, in Juárez, Mexico, to Simplicio Ferman and Petra Sarabia de Ferman. At only 17 years old, Ramon left home and made his way to California, determined to build a life for himself. He started out washing cars and later became a chef at a restaurant. That determination to work hard, adapt, and press on would define his entire life.

 Eventually, Ramon made his way back to El Paso, Texas, where he met Sara, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage. Ramon was the proud father of five sons: Jose Ramon Ferman Jr., Helmer D. Ferman, Jorge Montoya, Steven Ramirez, and Alex D. Ferman. He was also a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Phoebe Ferman. His love for his family was one of the defining parts of his life. 

The family moved to Hereford, Texas, in 2002 and later made their home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, in 2007. Ramon worked at American Casting for 12 years and was known as a dedicated, dependable, and incredibly hard worker.

 In 2016, Ramon was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma. He underwent chemotherapy and, remarkably, continued to work throughout his treatment. He overcame the disease, but in 2018 was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and could no longer work. Still, illness never defined him. Ramon refused to allow his circumstances to take away his joy or his resolve.

 That was simply who Ramon was. He did not give up.

 If something seemed impossible, he found a way. If his family was struggling, he reminded them that everything was going to be all right. He was both mentally and physically strong and had a perseverance and conviction that carried not only himself, but often everyone around him.

 He lived by the belief that “where there is a will, there is a way.”

 Above everything else, Ramon loved his family. He often said, “My kids are my life.” Those were not just words. He fought for his family, loved each of his sons deeply, and made it his mission to be there. From small moments to life's biggest events, circumstances rarely stopped him from finding a way to show up.

 He made sure his sons learned from him. He taught them, “If life was easy, then it would be boring,” “Every step you take, take it with confidence and be sure,” and “With every sacrifice, there is a reward.” Those lessons, along with all the talks and conversations, are part of the legacy he leaves behind.

 Ramon had a big heart and was always willing to help. When a situation seemed hopeless, he was often the one who found a solution. He was a man of many trades, someone who could fix almost anything, and a natural problem-solver. He was also a good negotiator who had a way of getting things done.

 Though he would say he wasn't much of a public speaker, Ramon had a natural charisma. He connected with people easily and could hold a conversation in a way that was completely his own. He was thoughtful and philosophical and loved talking about life and the state of man. But just as much, he had a great sense of humor. Ramon could find light even in difficult situations.

 And he definitely wasn't lacking in confidence.

 Ramon was known to remind everyone, proudly and often with a grin, that he was the best chef and the best-looking man. And once Ramon claimed that title, there was no point arguing.

 Cooking was one of the ways Ramon brought people together. He loved cookouts and preparing steaks, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, and brisket for the people he loved. If Ramon cooked, everyone knew it was going to be good. 

Music was also a big part of the things Ramon enjoyed. He loved singing along to his favorite music, including Vicente Fernández, Intocable, ZZ Top, and Led Zeppelin. Whether he was having a cookout, detailing cars, or simply enjoying the day, music was often part of it. 

Ramon loved sports of all kinds: soccer, basketball, baseball, football, and tennis. Among his favorite teams were Real Madrid, the Texas Longhorns, The Broncos, and Cruz Azul.

 He also loved to drive, especially on long road trips. When Ramon was behind the wheel, he carried himself with such confidence that his passengers couldn't help but feel safe, like they were with the best driver in the world.

 That sense of assurance seemed to follow Ramon into everything he did. Whether cooking, cleaning a car, driving, fixing something, singing, working, or simply talking with someone, Ramon gave it everything he had. He had a way of making you genuinely believe that nobody could do it quite like he could.

 Even during the hardest moments, Ramon kept trying to protect and reassure his family. Near the end of his life, when words were hard to speak, he looked toward his family, winked at his son, smiled, and gave them the OK sign—one more way of telling the people he loved that everything was going to be all right.

 Ramon did not have an easy life, but he was grateful for the life he had. He gave everything he had, all the way until the end. 

Most importantly, at the end of his life, Ramon came to faith in Jesus Christ. His family finds peace in knowing that after a lifetime of fighting, persevering, working, loving, and providing, Ramon gave his life to God.

 On August 24, 2026, God called Ramon home.

 He fought the good fight. He kept the faith.

 Ramon was preceded in death by his parents, Simplicio Ferman and Petra Sarabia de Ferman. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sara Ferman; his five sons, Jose Ramon Ferman Jr., Helmer D. Ferman, Jorge Montoya, Steven Ramirez, and Alex D. Ferman; his granddaughter, Phoebe Ferman; his sister, Nena Hernandez; and the many family members and friends whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.

 Ramon will live on through his family, through the lessons he taught them, through the stories they will continue to tell, through the laughter he brought into their lives, and through the example of perseverance he left behind.

 We give thanks to our Father in Heaven for blessing us with an amazing soul whose heart was big and mighty. 

Thank you, Ramon Ferman, for everything you gave us—for the sacrifices, the lessons, the conversations, the laughter, the joy, the leadership, and most of all, the love. 

We love you.

The family of Ramon will greet friends at a Visitation on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 5-8 pm in the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home.
