IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randall "Randy"
Lee Garvin
May 10, 1951 – July 28, 2025
Randall "Randy" Lee Garvin, 74, passed away peacefully at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on July 28, 2025.
Randy was born in 1951 in Alameda, California to parents Clyde and Maxine (Owens) Garvin. Soon after, his family moved to Wagoner, Oklahoma. Randy attended Wagoner public schools, where he made many life-long friends and was an active member of several sports teams.
Randy attended Northeastern State University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration and General Management. Randy also served in the National Guard in the 1970's, and was deployed to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary riot in McAlester in 1973.
Finance and numbers seemed to be in Randy's DNA. He also discovered a love for the manufacturing business after taking a job at Prestolite, a global manufacturer of electric motor parts in Wagoner, where he advanced to the level of Comptroller. It was also there that he met his current wife, Patricia Ann (Nunn) Garvin whom he married in 1980. After leaving Prestolite he went on to became the President of several different businesses, including Camel Tire Products (later Bridge Products) in Muskogee and Bergen Brunswig in Tulsa. Once Randy was fully in charge of an organization, there was no looking back. He had found his calling.
Randy's career reached a turning point in 1999, when he was hired by the Pritzker family of Chicago as President of their new bankrupt acquisition for the Marmon Group of companies--Unarco Industries in Wagoner, a shopping cart manufacturer. Randy was able make the company solvent his first year! Five years later, Marmon made Randy the President of Prince Castle, in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, which was an innovator in fast-food restaurant equipment manufacturing.
The crown in Randy's career came in 2007, when Marmon promoted him to be a Sector President, with multiple individual companies reporting to him. In 2008, Marmon was purchased by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway. Randy ultimately became a Marmon Group President for both the Merchandising Technologies Group and the Food & Beverage Technologies Group, overseeing 16 national and international companies. While at Marmon, Randy became a global traveler, visiting the companies he managed and looking for new companies to acquire. Over the years, he visited most of the world's major cities and accumulated 4 million miles on American Airlines!
Randy and Patricia moved back to Oklahoma in 2012 to be closer to family. After several years of commuting between Tulsa and Chicago, he decided to return home full time and once again serve as President of Unarco. He retired a few year's later, and left holding several patents for his inventions there.
Randy was not only a very successful businessman who was smart, insightful, and decisive, he was also a great mentor and leader of people. He was kind, respectful, and treated people with genuine care. He was a man of faith, who lifted people up with his compassion and generosity, and looked for ways to help those in need. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Anyone who spent time with Randy could be sure there would be a lot of joy and laughter during their time together.
Randy is survived by his wife Patricia; brother Paul Garvin (Betsy); son Chad Garvin (Chelsey); daughters Jennifer O'Stasik and Angie Thomas (John); granddaughters Bailee Thomas, Brooke Thomas, and Larkin O'Stasik and grandson Heron Boyen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Maxine Garvin; sister, Kathy Garvin; and two infant sons, Johnathan Garvin and Randall Garvin Jr.
