Reece Venson Berry was born August 2, 1948 in Van Buren, Arkansas one of ten children born to John and Mildred (Blackwell) Berry. At an early age Reece joined the United States Army and served his country well until his honorable discharge in 1969.
Before retirement Reece worked in construction as a carpenter and heavy equipment operator. He loved anything about horses, from raising them to watching horse races. His favorite time was spent with family, especially his grandchildren, who have memories of how he liked to go for rides, go to eat Braums chicken strips or Jose's, ride four wheelers and talk to them on the phone. In recent years he enjoyed visiting with his siblings, Pat and Velma, at their home in Wagoner. In his early years he drove a semi, and still liked to do dirt work when he could.
Reece departed this life Saturday, January 28, 2017 at his home near Peggs, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Berry; a son, Jeremy Johnson, brother, Cletus Berry; sister, Ann Fairchild; and brother-in-law, Dwight Cole.
Survivors include his son, Brandon Berry of Briggs, OK; a daughter, Brandy Berry of Tahlequah, OK; one granddaughter, Addison Berry of Tahlequah, OK; three grandsons, Shade Berry, Blake Wolf and Blaze Wolf, all of Tahlequah, OK; son, Dalton Swim of Broken Arrow, OK; seven siblings, Eddie Berry and wife, Sue, of Stilwell, OK, Norma Pyland and husband, David, of Charleston, S.C., Chester Berry and wife, Donna, of Kissimmee, FL; Pat Cole of Wagoner, OK; Velma Smith of Wagoner, OK; Linda Deckard and husband, Johnny, of Hulbert, OK and Loyd Berry and wife, Laura, of Stilwell, OK; numerous nieces and nephews, including Derrick Berry and wife, Bethany of Wagoner, OK, Michael Cole and Wife, Gayla, of Wagoner, OK, Emily Berry of Wagoner, OK, Nick Berry of Vinita, OK, Jay Bird of Wagoner, OK and Laura Posh and husband, Frank, of Fort Gibson, OK and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Chapel of Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory in Wagoner, OK. The Reverend John Moles will officiate.
Interment will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner, OK. Pallbearers will be Calvin Barnes, Derrick Berry, Jay Bird, Michael Cole, Dewayne Fisher and Chris Wolf. Honorary pallbearers are Nick Blaine, Dalton Blaine, Shade Berry, Blake Wolf and Blaze Wolf.
