Obituary

Richard Alan Henson Jr. was born October 18, 1971 in Valdosta, Georgia. He made his home in Wagoner, OK. After dropping out of high school, Richard entered Tulsa Community College where he earned his high school diploma. Following graduation from TCC Richard attended Northeastern State University and earned a Bachelor in Elementary Education degree. He was currently teaching at Whittier Elementary in Muskogee, OK. Throughout his youth Richard trained as an electrician while working with his father, Rick Henson and grandfather, Bill Henson.

On October 6, 1999 Richard married the love of his life, the former LaDonna Hays. They shared a life full of love and companionship for twenty-one years.

Richard was gifted with artistic talent, especially for music. He loved writing songs and playing the guitar. Other hobbies he enjoyed were fossil hunting, stamp and coin collecting and wood working. He also liked hunting deer with his father.

Richard and LaDonna shared a love for being with their families. He will be greatly missed by all, family and friends alike.

Richard departed this life Friday, November 13, 2020 at the age of 49 years. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, C.W. "Bill" Henson and Nettie Sue (Cobb) Henson and his maternal grandparents, Rex Bennet and Jane Bennett.

His loving family who remain to cherish his memory include his devoted wife, LaDonna (Hays) Henson; a daughter, Marie Conery; a son, Kage Henson-Southerland; special nephews and niece, Sheldon, Chaylor and Bristo Love; three grandsons, Michael McClearn, Lemuel "Scooter" Pineiro-Malick and Thomas "Tommy" Pineiro; his father and stepmother, Richard A. and Ellen (Davis) Henson Sr.; his mother, Janice Sue (Bennett) Horton; two brothers, Jason Henson and Shane Henson; one sister, Mendy (Henson) McMurtrey; his great-grandmother, Sue Davis; parents-in-law, Mike and Stephanna Hays; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020 in the Chapel at Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.
