Funeral services for Richard A. Murphy, 71, life-long resident of Wagoner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the First Christian Church of Wagoner with the Reverend Dr. Loy Hoskins officiating. Richard was born November 10, 1939 in Wagoner to his parents, Joe Ben and Eliza (Copple) Murphy. After graduating high school, Richard served in the Oklahoma National Guard for several years. On September 8, 1962 he was united in marriage to Karen Sue Katie' Price. Richard was a dedicated employee of Royal Casket Company in Muskogee for over 40 years and loved to visit with his many friends at the different funeral homes all over northeastern Oklahoma. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing. Richard passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the Wagoner Community Hospital. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his twelve brothers and sisters and an infant child. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Katie of the home; his daughters, Chrissy Barney and Candy Brown both of Wagoner; his granddaughters, Hannah, Jessica and Natalie Barney and Rachel Brown; three sisters, Dollie Boyd and her husband, Vene of Adair, OK, Mable Carter and her husband, Claude of Bakersfield, CA and Evelyn Roderick of Ft. Smith, Ark.; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, including Lilly'. Pallbearers for Richard will be Zach Guinn, Lawrence Price, Mike Price, Larry Charles, Jim Holman and Jeff Hamilton. Funeral arrangements and interment in Elmwood Cemetery are directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
