Richard Lee Talbot Sr

September 17, 1938 — March 23, 2026

Wagoner

Richard Lee Talbot Sr., a man known for his steady hands, kind heart, and unwavering faith, entered into the presence of his Heavenly Father on Monday, March 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 17, 1938, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Frank Eugene Talbot and Vivian L. (Carney) Scott.

Richard lived a life defined by dedication, craftsmanship, and love for those around him. He had a deep passion for antique cars, especially his treasured 1958 red Studebaker. He found great joy not only in restoring vehicles, but in sharing that passion with his family. His son Ronald fondly remembered the many hours they spent side by side, taking engines apart piece by piece and rebuilding them together. Even as his health declined in later years, Richard remained involved, offering guidance and making sure every detail was done just the way he envisioned.

On December 23, 1993, Richard married the love of his life, Laura Kathleen Keele. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion. Their years together were filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.

Richard was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work. He owned and operated his own heat and air company as an HVAC technician, where his skill, honesty, and dedication earned the trust of many in the community. Whether it was repairing a system or helping someone in need, he approached every job with care and integrity. Music was another meaningful part of Richard’s life. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, having spent time performing in bands. While he appreciated many genres, his heart was especially drawn to gospel and Christian music. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a longtime member of Lighthouse Church, where he faithfully sang in the choir and used his talents to honor the Lord. He also shared his love of gospel music by playing regularly at RSU in Claremore on Sundays at 1:00 p.m.

Richard also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. In earlier years, he spent time fishing, camping, and even skiing, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He had a natural ability to fix just about anything, earning him the reputation of being someone you could always count on when something needed repair. He worked diligently throughout his life, including his time with the Santa Fe railroad and at the powder plant, where he worked on refrigerated freight. No matter the job, Richard approached it with pride and a strong work ethic.

He also had a fun and spirited side, especially when it came to watching WWE wrestling. He rarely wanted to miss a match, and his wife, Kathy made sure he could keep up with every moment by recording them for him.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Frank Talbot and Vivian Scott; his son, Richard Lee Talbot Jr.; his sisters, Roselea Nall and Sherry Dykes; and his daughter-in-law, Michele Talbot.

Those left to cherish the many memories of his life include his beloved wife, Kathy Talbot of the home; his son, Ronald Dean Talbot; his daughter in law, Karen Talbot; sons, Jarrod Burroughs (Melanie), Jeff Burroughs (Penny);  his grandchildren, MaryKaye Boren (Bradlee), Cheryl Denise Delk (Corey), Elizabeth Ann Talbot, Allie Burroughs Hammack (Ben), Austin Burroughs, Madison Adair (Nicholas), and Mackenzie Usrey (Bryce); his great-grandchildren, Misty LeaDawn and Johnny Lee Boren, Jaylee Sue and Carter Delk, Marley, Lily, Riley Bias, Theo Hammack, Justus Hammack, and Amelia Rose Adair; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Glenda and TJ Bogle, and Ina and Garry Keele; along with many other relatives and friends who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Above all, Richard loved the Lord and his family. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a good man who lived his life with purpose and faith. His legacy will live on in the memories he created, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Interment will follow at Bennett Addition of Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Those serving as casket bearers include Kenny Howell, Bill Proctor, Eugene Blatchford, Dennis Dorr, Bradlee Boren, Johnny Lee Boren, and David Peterson.
